It's Giveaway Week! Today's question . . .

What is your favorite parenting resource? It can be a book, DVD, or even a website. It can be specific to raising children overseas, or about any other aspect of parenting. What has given you a vision for raising your children? What books do you go back to over and over for help along the way? Please share with us - and feel free to share more than one resource, if you have several favorites!

And remember, commenting on this post enters your name in our Amazon Gift Card giveaway! See the details here.

  • "Growing Kids God's Way" audio series by Gary and Ann Marie Ezzo. They go way beyond the normal child training things you hear, including reaching the heart of your child, giving the moral and practical reason why, allowing your child to "surrender with dignity" and so much more. He's a great speaker with great illustrations and stories.

I second "Shepherding a Child's Heart". Also, I have greatly appreciated and have been encouraged by "The Ministry of Motherhood" by Sally Clarkson.

  • This is usually considered a homeschooling resource more than plain parenting, but it has shaped our family more than anything else:

  • I've found "To Train Up A Child" by Michael Pearl to be helpful, especially with very young children.

  • I would have to say that parents, in-laws, the Word of God, and prayer have been our consistant "go-to's" when it comes to parenting. Michael Pearls' newsletter often has something I appreciate and put into practice (and just as often things I don't!), and we also used the "Growing Kids God's Way" when the children were young.

I really love Sally Clarkson's book The Mission of Motherhood. It might be more for raising older children. I haven't read The Ministry of Motherhood, but I'm sure it's great, too.

  • For sure it's Mind in the Making: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs by Ellen Galinsky. Very interesting book and i love the way Galinsky described the model of relationships between parents and children. Pretty much must read for every parent as for me.
